Stop Vacada!

We ask your help in sending this letter to appeal to Rev. V. to speak to the local priest and the party committee to stop this barbarity “Vacada”

I have learned that the Special Events Committee of Our Lady of the Angels will promote, on 9th August a vacada in the parish of Água de Pau, municipality of Lagoa, Azores.

Whereas the Catholic Church should have a clear position of opposition to bullfights and other spectacles said with cattle, which were condemned and forbidden by Pope Pius V, who regarded them as spectacles outside of Christian charity;

Whereas bullfighting, vacadas bullock fighting and do nothing to educate citizens to respect the animals, in addition to causing suffering to ourselves and endangering people's lives;

Whereas among the local population for parishioners who are unhappy with the use of their contributions for purposes that serve nothing for ethical and moral elevation of the people of Agua de Pau;

Whereas the hierarchy of the Church should set the example for all believers.

We appeal to Rev. V. to speak to the local priest and the party committee to stop this barbarity.
